Geography is one of the few tools the official text fully names. You raise mountains, flood valleys and call meteors. Beta 2.2 also added sharper borders, a Time of Day setting and empty worlds. Beta 2.6 adds new kinds of worlds to start on, without listing them.
Mountains, valleys, water and impacts
| Action | Lasts as geography | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Raise mountains | Yes. A mountain is a barrier the description presents as land you create. | Which nations can still walk to each other, and whether a later war has to go around. |
| Flood valleys | The flood is the action. The description does not say the water recedes. | Which towns sat in the low ground, and whether a coast or a new shore appears for ships. |
| Meteors | The description calls them down as a disaster, not as a building tool. | Whether the struck region still has a town, an army or a road afterward. |
| Rain and lightning | Not described as permanent land. | Local reaction only. Details are in Divine powers. |
Borders and the clock
Beta 2.2's "sharp new borders" means nation edges were made easier to read. It does not publish a border mechanic such as a claim cost or a fort level. Use the sharper line to see who owns a valley before you flood it.
Time of Day is a setting in that same note, not a resource and not a day-night survival rule. The description does not say what the setting changes beyond the time of day itself.
Empty worlds and new starts
Empty worlds, from the Beta 2.2 notes, are the option to begin without the usual starting setup. Beta 2.6 adds further "new kinds of worlds to start on." Neither note lists the proper names of those worlds. Start options that this wiki does document are on the worlds pages: the round homeworld, empty worlds, solar colonies, and other stars and galaxies.
If you want a geography experiment:
- Start an empty world, or one of the new world types, using the label in the in-game Guide.
- Raise mountains and carve the routes you care about before nations are large.
- Let people settle the land you left open.
- Flood or strike only the region whose loss you already understand.
Editor caution
Flooding a valley under an army, or dropping a meteor on a capital, will change the history you were watching. That is the point of those powers. It is not a documented way to farm a reward. No drop, relic or belief payout is published for disasters.
Done when
You can change who can reach whom with a mountain, and you can tell a flood or a meteor from rain. You are not following a biome, erosion or acid-rain tutorial written for a different game.
